<p>The  Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond  Neighborhoods&#8211; in partnership with  the Battery Park and Southern  Barton Heights Civic Associations and the  City of Richmond Department  of Planning &amp; Development Review  Preservation Staff&#8211; invites you  to explore the history and  architecture of three early streetcar  suburbs by foot or bicycle.<br />
10 -11 am ~ A presentation on the history of these three neighborhoods   along with information on tax credits and other incentives to help with  the purchase and renovation of the  architectural gems in this area.  A  booklet containing listings of  available houses for sale will be given  to those who attend.<br />
11 am  -1 pm ~ A  list of homes open for viewing will be provided for  participants to  take a self-tour. A bicycle tour&#8211; via old streetcar lines&#8211;   will be guided by Tyler Potterfield (Planner, City of Richmond Dept.  of  Planning and Development Review) for those who want to cycle through  the historic  communities.</p>

<p>The Valentine Richmond  History Center, in  partnership with the Alliance to Conserve Old  Richmond Neighborhoods,  will offer a bus tour exploring the history of  our city, built in large  part by African-Americans&#8211; from the First  Battalion Armory and Maggie   Walker&#8217;s Italianate townhouse in Jackson  Ward to Shockoe Bottom&#8217;s slave   auction warehouses.  Selden Richardson  (author of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">Built by Blacks:  African-American </span><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Architecture and  Neighborhoods in Richmond  Virginia</span>),  will lead the tour.    Tickets are $23 ($20 for History  Center members and children 6-18 years  old; children under 6 are free).   Cost includes parking in the History lot and admission to the museum on the date of the tour.</p>
